KNOX THUNDERDOME NOV 5TH & 6TH So Saturday was a blistering hot day! Even though racing started at 6pm it was still hot as when we hit the track! There was 2 gates of AA men. I won each of my moto's advancing through to the main with first pick. I chose Lane 3 for the main. Oli and Tom were on the inside with the rest on the outside. I got a really good gate and came over on Tom so i had some room between Oli and Matt Dunsworth. I was in third as we came out of the first corner. Matt made a mistake and i got in front of him but i had to move over on him a little so he didn't come under me in the second turn. Oli was still in front with me in second. I got the second corner good and held my speed into the straight. It looked like Oli was struggling a little and i was gaining on him. I got next to him over the last jump into the third turn, Oli cased the last jump and i got round the outside in the turn. I pedalled my but off down the last straight and i won! This was my first AA Men win! Stoked.
Sunday again was a really hot day! AA Men still had 2 gates. I got 4th, 2nd and a 1st in my moto's. This gave me 3rd pick for the main. Jordan Morgan chose lane 1, Tom chose 4, so i chose 2. I got a good gate and was sitting just behind Matt Dunsworth. He squished me on the inside of the first turn. I was back in 7th coming out of the first turn. I railed the second turn and tried to stay as smooth as possible down the third straight. When i looked up i realised i was in third and pulled under Levi out of the turn and beat him to the line. So i finished second! Stoked.
And to top it off i got the quickest lap of the weekend and won 'King of Thunderdome'!
REDLINE CUP - Boulder City Las Vegas Wow.....how awesome. I had the best time ever! Just being in America and getting on a gate for practice with Strombergs, Connor Fields, Khalen, Sam and so many of the worlds best was amazing! Saturday I raced in the Mens Junior Elite and also the A Mens class. The classes were so close I had no time in between so it was extremely tiring, but I managed to podium both classes that day. Sunday I only raced A Men and came 3rd. So two 3rds and one 1st for the weekend wasn't too bad! Had a great time and want to go back. Thanks to all the guys who advised me and helped me over the weekend and to the Koehler family for letting me stay with them longer than expected. Really appreciate it. Love you guys!
cheers, Bodi
SX CHULA VISTA Wow...first time at a supercross....how awesome. I arrived in San Diego on Wednesday, built my bike and stayed atNext day had practice. It took a while to dial in the track. There were some big crashes. I ended the practice with completing the track ok. Friday was time trials day. I was 61st off the gate out of 150 elite riders. I had a pretty good run. The commentator called me the wild child when I was in the air jumping the triple in the first straight and had to stop laughing and concentrate! My time was ok. I slotted into 21st position with about another 80 riders to go. I sat and watched a rider go past and my slide down the list. I had to stay in the top 64 to qualify for the racing on Saturday. I was sitting on 57th for a while and looked at the start hill and saw a heap of riders to go and of course they were all the highest ranked in the world. I ended up in 76th position, so I wasn't racing tomorrow. I was 200ths of a second off 64th position. Maybe if I hadn't have laughed????? anyway it was an awesome experience! Now I'm off to Las Vegas....see what happens there?
cheers, Bodi
Bendigo BMX Club - Gold Rush Had a great day. First time on the track with its new straight. It was mad! Won the AA Pro class and thanks to everyone at Bendigo for getting the track ready. Cheers, Bodi
WYNDHAM BMX - WERRIBEE SKINS Wyndam started off as a good day. The track was a little rough but the club did well to get it in the condition it was in. I won my 3 moto's and was feeling pretty good. We had 3 gates so we had semi finals. I had a semi final with Matt Dunsworth, Olivier and Levi Collins. I got a reasonable gate though matt cam from lane 4 straight into lane one and i was shut down. Oli took the lead and Matt in second, Levi came round the outside of me and put me in 4th. I was sitting fine, but down the back straight i put myself into a bad position on the outside and was held out by Levi, Brandon may came underneath and rode me off the track. unfortunately i finished 5th. But these things happen. Looking forward to Bendigo next week. cheers, Bodi
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS COPENHAGEN JULY 30TH It all started with a 3 week camp before the world titles with the High Performance Program. All the riders were there except sam willoughby and khalen young. the camp was great, we rode the new SX track in QLD to get a feel for the Copenhagen track. it is very similar to the worlds track which was a great advantage for us. On Sunday 24th, we flew out of Australia on a 22 hour flight broken into two. we stopped at Bangkok for a transfer flight. the flight killed me though i was fine by Tuesday. we didn't have practice till Thursday. it was only an hour session on Thursday and we had 120 riders in junior, so you can only imagine how crazy it was! Friday we had another 30 mins of practice before we began time trials. i was 18th in the UCI world ranking so it took ages until my TT was up. i got a pretty good time. i was placed 14th in the end. the top 16 compete in another TT called the superfinal. because i was 14th i went 3rd. i beat my time and was in the hot seat for a long time though my TT wasn't fast enough for a podium or a gold. i got 5th. Saturday was race day. racing didn't start until 1 in the afternoon. we had 3 moto's as usual and i got 2 firsts and a second. in the quarter final i got a good gate and won. in the semi final i was a little more nervous because both heats were stacked full of amazing riders! but i stayed confident and i hole shotted the race! i messed up the second straight a little which allowed darryn goodwin to come underneath in the second turn but i didn't want to crash so i just held my line and held second to the finish. In the final i had fourth pick. but i got lane 3. i was feeling really good. no nerves at all. when the gate dropped i reacted a little early and just tapped the gate, enough to let Trent get in front and it just ruined my flow. i was in last and tried as hard as i could to catch back up, but it was a horrible track to pass. so i finished sixth. but i am stoked to make the junior men final!! thanks heaps!
SLEEMANS OPENING - JUNE 4th The weekend was really good! The weather was perfect all weekend. Friday night we had 2 practice sessions. I love the start hill and the first straight was really fast! The pro straight was a little tough to dial in but eventually I was getting it pretty good. The third pro rhythm was a struggle! The jumps were still a little out of shape. I got through it a couple of times but it required alot of energy and concentration. On saturday it was an early morning at the track, lucky the race was in QLD because if it was in melbourne we would have had frostbite! In Junior men we only had 11 riders. I won my moto's and was feeling pretty confident around the track. In the final I had first pick. I chose lane 5 thinking its the best lane. I got a good gate and got the first jump really low and fast. I was on point around the first turn. I got the second straight clean and set myself up for the third straight. I got the first half of the straight good but then jumped a little high into one of the gaps and pumped out of it. As I rode round the last corner I noticed I didnt lose much ground because most other riders struggled too. I crossed the line in first. I felt really good. as though I just won a supercross race.
thanks heaps!
Wodonga Vic Vs NSW raced in wodonga on the weekend. won all my motos and the quarter final. running 5th in the semi but finished 2nd. had a great great in the final but got squeezed out in the first turn. was too low in the second turn and washed out. bit of skin off the knee and elbows but all good. happy to make the final. it was great racing with the nsw guys... warwick stevenson was also there! thanks for a great day! ***********************************************************************************************************************
AUSTRALIAN TITLES WEEK. April 30th, 31st, May 1st
i arrived in cairns on monday the 25th. we had practice at the track tuesday. wednesday was practice and pre titles. thursday was the last round of champbikx/probikx. unfortunately it was pooring rain and the track was really wet and slippery. coming into this round i was 60 points behind darryn goodwin. in the moto's i got a couple of seconds and a first. it was decided that the pro's had to jump the pro-section. though in all my moto's i didnt finish all four. JNR Men had semi finals. i got out good and jumped all the pro-section. i finished first. in the final i had second pick and i chose lane 5 because i thought it was best for the first corner. i got an amazing gate and took the lead. i got through the pro-section good and held on down to the line. i finished first. darryn goodwin finished second. this means that darryn was still 20points in front because i only gained 40 on him. i am happy with a second overall for my first year in JNR Men. friday was the young riders and the old riders. Saturday was the nationals for the champ/probikx classes. the weather was amazing on friday and saturday. and after everyone riding the track friday it was rolled in really hard for our racing on saturday. the conditions couldnt have been better. i did good in my moto's, winning all three. again we only had three gates. so we went into semi's. i finished first in my semi final. although i finished first i still had 5th pick? this was because my time in the semi was slower than all four in the other semi ! but i still had the choice to choose lane 4. in the final i got a great gate. i took the lead to the first roller. though over the first roller i got a little sideways and lost my balance, i dropped back to 4th. around the first turn i took the inside line and came out third. in front was joseph costa and darryn goodwin. i was chasing them down the second straight. down the pro straight i caught them though i got stuck behind darryns back wheel, i held on behind them and we raced to the line. costa unclipped and i passed him and took second behind darryn. i was happy that i finished second. Saturday night we had the BMXA awards night. they presented the champbikx podium riders and then the probikx podium riders. they then presented the riders of the year awards. the first award was the rookie of the year award. the presenter announced "bodi turner!". straight away i thought no way! but then no one else stood up? it was amazing! i didnt expect it at all! mum raced on sunday and finished second! i went on camp from monday to wednesday with the HP team in brisbane, we did some testing and skinfolds and did some skills training at the local bmx track; beenleigh. It was great learning from these guys! thanks heaps Bodi
Shepparton GV Masters Shepparton on saturday was a great day with just a little bit of wind. we had state coaching and training. that night it belted down and the track was torn to pieces on sunday! racing started a little later while the officials waited for more rain.. haha in AA men we had a good two gates of riders. in my first moto i got first in front of josh callan. in the second moto i got first again. and in the third moto i got second. because we had two gates we went straight through to a final. for the final i had first pick. i chose lane 2. i got a really good gate and was only just behind josh. i tried to move over to get a better line around the turn. because the track was wet, we couldnt ride the pro-section. this made it alot harder for us to cut down early into the second straight. tony harvey high-lowed me. i was in third. i powered through the second and third straights. i gunned it around the last turn and got harvey before the line. i finished second. josh callan won. it was a good day of racing and i am happy with my result.
Thanks Heaps! Bodi.
PROBIKX ROUND 7 & 8 we drove to canberra thursday morning. i raced round 7 of the probikx series on friday. my shoulder has been playing up lately and i wasnt sure how i would go around the track. i did practice and surprisingly felt good. i did a pretty good time trial lap and was put into a pretty chalenging heat. i won my moto's and made the semi final. i got second in the semi behind darryn. in the final i chose the inside of darryn in lane 1 with darryn in 2. i got a good gate and came across. i took the lead and got a good lap in. as i entered the second last straight, darryn came up beside me so i sat there and tried not to let him pass or duck under. into the last corner, darrytn snuck under me but i kept pedalling and i just hung on for the win. on the saturday i won the time trial. i won two of my moto's and got 2nd in the other. in the semi i drew darryn again. i won the semi this time against darryn. in the final darryn chose lane 1 so i chose lane 2. as we came out the gate we both came across on each other and were bumping and elbowing all the way down the hill. he came out on top and i just slipped in behind him. i was chasing him around the track but he just held on for the win. i am happy with how i went considering i have a torn ligament in my shoulder. i didnt ride the ACT states because my shoulder was abit sore and i didnt want to make it any worse. but my main goal for the weekend was to maintain my position in the probikx series
PROBIKX ROUND 5 & 6 the weekend was great! round 5 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W218Vs7V0Vo round 6 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIcSsP20F0I weather was really hot and it only rained for about 10 minutes! that is a record for a probikx round, normally its terrential and flooding. though there was a cyclone scheduled to hit sunday morning. so instead of round 5 being run on sat and round 6 being run on sun, both were run on saturday. round 6 went into the night. in round 5 i didnt do to good in the moto's and had last pick for the final. i had lane 8. i got a good gate and tried to push inside but darryn was just in front. i sat in behind him and tried to pass him. i was on his tail all the way to the line but he won. i got second. in round 6 again, i didnt do too well in the moto's i still got 5th pick though. i had lane 3 this time. darryn was in lane 4. i got a good gate and moved over on darryn. i had an amazing lap untill the pro rhythm. i cased a jump and a fellow called chris passed me. i held onto second though and darryn got third. overall it was good racing.
thanks.
PROBIKX ROUND 3 Friday there had been periods of rain though the track was holding up nicely. friday afternoon we had practice on the track and then probikx began at 5. it was dry for most of the racing friday night. i race jnr men. i won the time trial and the won my moto's. i won the semi final giving me a good pick for the final. i got a good gate though darryn took the lead. i chase him all the way to the line but i couldnt pass him and i got second.
PROBIKX ROUND 4 Saturday was a wet morning though the guys at the track put tarps over it all to help protect it. when the rain disappeared they pulled the tarps off and it was a good day. i won the time trial again and two of my moto's. in the last moto my front wheel washed out and i crashed. i won the semi again giving me a good lane. in the final i had a good gate again and took the lead into the first turn though i went too high and joseph costa came underneath both me and darryn. i was in second but i jumped to high on the pro-section and darryn passed me. i finished third.
NERANG NATIONALS Sunday was all wet! i got 3rd,2nd,3rd in my three moto's and then got 2nd in my quarter final, i then got 3rd in the semi final. i was the only jnr elite to make the final. in the final i was out of lane eight and was pushed into the mud and i ended up finishing 7th in front of matt dunsworth
HRV CLASSIC Sunday 12th Dec sunday was a good day. the track was pretty good. the rain hadn't affected the track much. i was racing in 14+ men. we had 24 riders. i came third in the first moto and then a fourth in the next. in the last moto i got 7th. i had a bad start and couldnt catch back up. i was in a run off for the semi, i tried to make a move into first so i would make it through to the semi. i came underneath and tried pushing the rider out though just as i tried peddling out of the corner to take the lead my front wheel started to slide and i unclipped. i didnt make it through. i was disappointed with myself. i had been sick all this week - though that is no excuse for the poor performance displayed on the weekend.
thanks bodi
PROBIKX - STATE TITLES! the weekend was great. although the weather was terrible! the track held up so well! saturday morning i had the probikx and the pro-section was a little bit wet. i made a mistake in my time trial and didnt place too well. in the moto's i won them all and i was getting over the pro-section pretty clean. in the final i had a good pick and chose lane 2. i got an amazing start and was on the inside in first into the first corner. i held my lead all the way into the last turn. as i jumped the pro into the last turn i jumped to the inside to cover my line. darryn jumped to the outside and railed the turn. i sprinted down the last straight but i made the worst mistake in my life and jumped the last jump, this gave darryn the little bit he needed to win. i got second. i was happy with my result though.
saturday night it rained worse than ever. i got to the track expecting hell! when i looked i first thought it was really wet though when people began riding their bikes werent getting muddy? the pro-section was so wet and before the last was a masive puddle. the guys did well clearing it out. when practice started i began with gates because it was very slippery and i wanted to get it dialed. i then went straight to the pro-section. i saw a couple of the guys getting over it easy. i thought it was really wet? my first attempt i just tagged the landing of the second step-up. the next attempt i jumped the whole section and suprisingly it was hard? in the first moto i got a third. in the second i pulled a second and in the last i got another second. i jumped the pro's every lap. next was the semi final. i had a good lane pick. i got out clean and was sitting in third into the first turn. dave habicht came under and i was then put back to fifth because he let someone under him. i nailed the second straight and pushed under dave into the second turn. i was a little low coming in and didnt think i would get the pro section. i tagged the first and peddled enough to get the second step. i just cased the second and cranked hard to get the last. i got it good and came through the finish in third. in the final i had 6th pick and funnily enough, i had lane 6. i got a great gate and stayed beside tom siinmaa. entering the turn i was puhed high because i was on the outside. i was back in 6th. i carried my speed into the second turn and gunned it at the pro straight. i got it amazing! tom crashed in the last turn, i jumped out wide and matt dunsworth went inside. billy jollife cut matt off out of the turn and i sprinted to the line and just pipped matt. i got 4th! it was a great weekend and i am veryy happy o have come 4th in AA men!! thank you heaps *****************************************************************************************************************
Lilydale Spring Cup Oct 19th lilydale was wet in the morning. it looked as though it was gunna rain all day but before finals the sun came out. it was 14+ men. i got a second in the first moto, 6th in the second moto because i hit dave habicht who crashed, then i got a second again in the third moto. i had a good pick for the final. i got a good gate in the final and was about fourth at the end of the straight, dave habicht crashed again in the first turn, i got around him though i was still in 4th? olivier was leading with brock tuckerman in the two and tom siinmaa in third. i caught tom and passed him in the last turn. i finished third. it turned out to be a great weekend! thanks, bodi
MACKAY PIONEER BMX CLUB - PROBIKX ROUND 1 We arrived friday to an OK day. i woke up saturday to pooring rain! when we got to the track it was wet as! the track was puddled and had ruts all through it. i had practice after the champbikx had there time trials. we did not have time trials because it was too wet and would take too long. this was my first junior elite race. we had four gates. i was in the fourth gate with more riders my age rather than the above age. i didnt do too well in the first moto getting 5th. in the second moto i got 2nd and in the last i got 1st. because we had four gates we had semi finals. i had a good semi. i got out of the gate fast and came first. in the final i had first pick. on this track lane 8 was the inside, so i chose lane 7. (2). i had darryn goodwin on the outside of me. i got a good gate and was next to darryn. as we came over the first jump he came over and cut me off. i was still in second and was right on his tail into the second turn. i came under him and tried to push him out. i was faster down the third straight and passed him round the outside. i peddled all the way to the line and came first! this being my first junior race and i won, i am pretty happy. :) thanks bodi.
EASTFIELD EXPERIENCE SEPT 19TH i got to a good start sunday winning my first moto. i placed well in the next two. the track was a little wet in the morning though when finals came it was dry and fast. in AA men we had a three final final. i made the finals with third pick. i chose lanes 7-5-3 for the three finals. in the first final i hesitated and went straight over the gate, though i recoverd and pulled a sixth. in the second final i got out of the gate clean and was in third all the way. in the last final Kamakazi was in lane one and Tom siinmaa was in lane five. i was a little worried i would get squished though i got a good gate and tom did not cut me off. i got into second into the first turn and was right behind Kamakazi. i got the second straight really smooth and gained on kama. i really carved the second corner and pulled up on the inside of kama. i got past kama coming into the last turn though as we hit the last jump into the corner, kamakazi nudged my elbow and i put my foot down and ended up getting hit by three other guys. just as i thought i was still in second and was about to get on my bike i was slammed by another rider! it was just then when tom siinmaa, tony harvey, dave habicht, and kyle horton went past.. i was amazed by how well i rode to get to the last corner though i didnt expect anything to happen the way it did. i finished fifth overall. it was a great day!
thanks bodi.
Shepparton Aug 29th raced AA men. Had an awesome day...came 2nd in the final.
Today i raced 14+ men at sunny bendigo! They began practice to see what the track was like. i didnt ride practice because i wanted to keep my new hubs new! The track seemed to hold up pretty good, though once the first moto had come it was wrecked! first moto i had brock tuckerman and i got second. the second moto i had kyle horton, i got into the last turn and i couldnt peddle anymore, i got 5th.. haha The third moto i had kyle again and i won. i had lane six in the final. i got a good gate and was next to kyle and brock. kyle came over and brock slipped in the first turn. kyle took the lead. around the third turn, kyle slipped and brock took the lead again. i caught kyle but he had the inside into the next turn. i went high so i was on firm dirt i caught kyle again around the last turn but he covered the line and made me brake. i caught back up again and almost got him on the line coming third. I'm happy with one very dirty bike!
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS the last few weeks leading into the worlds had been great. i raced in mt gambier in AA men not making the final saturday though i pulled a third on sunday. i felt great after this race. 3 weeks before worlds i began a camp with the national talent ID squad. we spent everyday training and resting and training to make sure we were ready for what was headed our way. this camp went for two weeks. the last week i spent in queensland with my coach karl mustchin and we just did some last week prep stuff.
the plane flight was long. lucky they have screens to watch movies because i couldnt get to sleep! we flew to joburg from sydney then we connected to a flight to durban then drove the rest to pietermaritzburg. we arrived sunday night giving us monday to have a look around. i had a good practice on tuesday and wednsday. thursday wadey raced and got through to the semi and had an amazing race and made it to the final pulling a seventh.
my racing was on the friday. we had a quick warm up in the morning. i got about two laps. haha my heat had the world two rider nicolas koehler from the USA. it was good because it set my pace. in my moto's i got two seconds and a first. in my quarter i had the same nic koehler and a couple more fast people. i got first. the semi i was in was packed! i had the top six! i unclipped out the gate and was dead last. i clipped straight back in and didnt stop peddling untill the first turn. i hit some dude by accident and cut down into sixth. down the second straight i caught fifth, round the second turn i peddled around 4th and i made it through to the final. it was definately the best race of my life! he final was the hardest in a few years. because i went hard in my moto's it set me up with an outside lane in the final. all thje fast guys were in outside lanes except one american nathan padilla in 1. i got a great gate, i was first at the bottom of the hill. nathan padilla was on the inside and just got in front. a brasilian was next to me on the inside. i got into the first turn in third. then the brasilian rode me a little high not giving me enough room to cut down. carlos the colombian came under and rode me out to the pro section. i got on track and went hard to the line. i finished sixth.
all in all it was a great week. i feel i rode well and to be up near the top in the world i think im ready to get pushed around in junior men.
WORLDS SOUTH AFRICA 2010 July 29th, 30th Can't wait to get there. At the moment training in QLD with the NTID's. Raced Bundaburg on the weekend. Didn't get into the top 8 main! Had a full semi but stuffed up on a corner to let a rider through for 4th. 2010 NATIONALS, SHEPPARTON. Thursday i woke up feeling good. when i got to the track i went for a ride to warm up and do some dynamic warm ups. in the motos i rode kinda hard just to get the feel and be in the mood for when final time comes along. i did some jumps and warm ups and got ready for the final. i was feeling good for the final and it all worked out to help me win the race. Saturday again i was feeling pretty good. again i did some dynamic warm ups and went for a ride. i had an easy heat so i gave it a bit to keep me in the zone. when i got to quarters i just treated it as another heat. same with semi's. before the final i just did some jumps and warm ups to keep active. when i got on the gate i had a good lane felt good. it felt like i wasnt first to the first jump i had caught up after it. i tried moving over but zain had the elbow in front. when we got tp the big double zain shot across and didnt jump so i had to take the inside to avoid him. by the time i had passed him it felt it was too late to take a wider entry into the turn. i tried carving the turn but it wasnt enough to block ryan. i kept my speed down the second straight in third. i got the second turn sweet and knew i could pass zain, the stupid mistake was that i chose to pass him on the outside so when i entered the last turn i tapped the brake and the others came under, i should have been on the inside but ill have to remember for next time i guess? :( i finished 5th...
Sunday was the worst race day of my life! i felt ok on the cruiser, i felt i did ok in the heats. when i got to the quarter i had it pretty easy compared to the others. just after the call said 'watch the gate' someone flinched and someone said their wheel slipped and he tryed to correct it and slammed the gate, straight after he had slammed the gate the beeps went and i reacted a little early and just tapped the gate and kinda fel out. i caught to fourth into the first turn but someone came under, as i entered the second turn i tried to come under fourth but just as i landed into the turn he crossed over and i unclipped trying not to crash into him. i was then put back in 6th and then come out of the last turn in 5th and couldnt catch fourth.. the worst race ever!
All up it was a really good weekend. :) haha bodi
ACT TITLES MARCH 6TH, 7TH friday was practice at melba for the state titles. the track was dry and was amazing! the second straight was the best i have ever ridden! it had a step double, then dropped down about 20ft! and came back up to a massive step up! it was really fast and flowed really well. after practice we left for the 5th champbikx round at tuggernarong. and guess what?? it began to rain and it didnt stop! the track was really slippery and there were puddles every where! but it was lots of fun. i was getting really good gates! then when it came to the final i got an amazing gate and lead the whole way round the track, and won the race! i won every race that day. saturday there was a champbikx round in the morning. it was still wet and the occasional drip of rain but alot better than tugg! though the track surface was different so it made it really hard to peddle. i won all my moto's. i got an amazing gate in the final again and won the race! so happy that i won both rounds because it has boosted my lead in the overall standings. then there was AA men saturday afternoon. we had three moto's. i got 3rd in the first behind billy jollife and madill, beating michael chasty! haha and then a 6th and a second behind graeme riggs! on sunday it was super dry and the track was amazing! we had one moto and then finals. i got fourth in the fourth moto. i made it semi's! i just happened to draw the hardest semi out of the two! haha i got a good gate but was squished out early. i railed the first turn and caught up a little though everyone slowed down and of course, i had to aswell. there was some carnage in the second turn and i swooped under ian docherty and then high lowed aiden nemet in the last turn. i came in sixth behind jolliffe, madill, hubert, alex cameron and brock murray! it was i sick race! i love racing the AA men level and cant wait for the easter race! bodi. ************************************************************************* Rider of the Year Awards for 2009 Thanks to everyone in victoria who voted for me for the two awards I received saturday night. Riders Rider of the Year & Senior Rider of the Year
Thanks heaps.....I'm speechless! *************************************************************************** Shepparton Race Feb 8th shepparton was soooo hot! saturday was state training and a coaching clinic. the day turned out great with almost 80 participants! sunday was even hotter! i rode in 14+. alex cameron, nick cameron and brock murray came down. we had five gates! i won my first moto, got second in the next, and third in the last. we then went into quarters. i got out ok and was in second and kinda stuffed the third straight pro-section and went back to third. then in the semi i was in between tom siinmaa and brock tuckerman. i came out and was sitting just behind them when alex cameron got a little sketchy and kinda slowed me down and as i came out of the first turn i was in 5th. i tried to catch jon-jon and every one slowed for the third straight and i had to manuel and someone behind me, past me and almost got 5th but jon-jon got through. so i didnt make finals but i felt i was riding pretty well.. thanks, bodi. ******************************************************************************************** TRACK ATTACK! track attack was a great week. i entered AA men hoping to do well. SATURDAY saturday was at south eastern. we had two gates of AA's. some who entered were still racing the xbr series. i had michael chasty in every moto. i scored well in the moto's and made it into the final. i got an amazing gate and was fourth into the first turn but i was on the outside and was pushed back to finish sixth. SUNDAY sunday was at lilydale. again we had two gates of AA's. the xbr riders came down to race from sunday on. i had pretty good heats but i hadnt placed good enough to make the final.
MONDAY monday was bsx. there were more than 32 open riders. the weather was really annoying. it would rain, make the track slippery, dry up then poor down just as it dries? it just made the racing even better. i qualified 10th in time trials. i had a 12 yr old in my first round. second round i ended up with kyle horton and it was ridiculously wet. i got out alright, stayed on the bike but kyle had me out of the last corner. again josh callan won the day with jon-jon in second. TUESDAY tuesday was at knox. we were still only two gates even with the riders from xbr series. the weather was great. i had just been given my new helmet and in the first moto i crashed. :( then i got 5th in the second moto and then crashed again in the third.. it wasnt a good day haha THURSDAY thursday was at frankston. the weather was warm and the track was dry and fast. i got 5th in the first moto, then crashed in the second moto getting a sixth, then i got a second in the last but it wasnt enough to get me into finals. it was a good night though.
SATURDAY saturday was at park orchards. it was made compulsory to jump the "pro section". i scored well in the moto's and got a spot in the finals. i was out of eight and pushed high every where though i finished seventh. it was a good day. haha
SUNDAY sunday was at eastfield. eastfield was where i was best at. i thought i would do well there. i got really good moto's getting me lane seven in the final. the best lane i had been given all series! haha i got out clean and went for the rail around the outside of everyone around the first turn but someone was pushed high in front of me and sent me even wider. i got in to seventh then around the last turn i passed someone into 6th. i was thinking after, if i had a clean run in the first turn i would have come out fourth! but because im new everything goes wrong.. haha track was a great start for me in AA men. i cant wait for ACT titles now! thanks heaps, bodi.
NERANG CHAMPBIKX AND NTIDS CAMP we arrived in queensland on wednesday the 30th. there was practice on wednesday night and thursday afternoon. we were told that it was raining all day tuesday so we expected the track to be a bit wet, though it wasnt too bad. by thursday the track had dried and was unbelievably fast. Friday friday was practice in the morning and racing at 6:00. 16 boys, my age for champbikx, had about 30 riders so we had semi finals. time trials were good. i got the fastest lap for my age. by winning time trials i got first pick first moto. i won all the moto's and got a good spot in the semi. i won the semi and got first pick in the final. in the final i got an amazing gate and lead the whole race. Saturday the next morning was another round of champbikx. i didnt win the time trial though the NTID coach said the timing didnt work and the fella who won should have been given another 2 seconds. i won my first race, got second in the next and i won the last. i got a good pick for semi's and won them. i then was given first pick for the final. i shot out the gate and was out in front. again i lead the whole race and won. from champbikx i got two hundred dollars and it put me in the lead in the overall standings. Sunday sunday was a hot morning but after semi's it poored down. sadly i didnt make it through semi's. i made a mistake and it through me out for the pro section and put me back in fifth.. i was happy though because my bike and gear didnt get dirty. CAMP the camp was amazing. monday we went and bought food for the week and relaxed. tuesday we got up for a recovery ride in the morning and then went into the gym to do a core strength testing session. i lasted in the prone stabilisation for four minutes! i was a little sore after that. haha after the testing we went and raced at beenleigh. i raced in pro men andagain didnt make the final though i have been having problems with my knee and i couldnt get out the gate quick enough to score good points. wednesday we got up again for another recovery ride. we went for a swim and did some small training efforts. thursday we got up early to go to the QAS for some testing. when we got there we did some skinfolds. i have 44.6mm of fat and since september last year i have gained three kilo's and lost a mm of fat! after skinfolds they made us get on the bike and do some effort tests. we began with a couple of four second sprints. we then did six by three second sprints to determine our explosive power and then we did a thirty second sprint! i went all the way and scored pretty well. i went to cool down on one of the bikes in another room and felt it comin' up. i walked to the toilet then slowly began to run but thenit came out just before i made it. i chucked. i felt sooo much better though. once everyone had done their testing and spewing we went to the recovery centre to have some ice baths! it was cold though we felt that they worked. thursday night we raced at ashmore. i made the final this time and got 8th. because of my knee i wasnt able to perform at my best but i took it in and we are getting it checked so i can race well at track attack. it is feeling better now that i am resting it. friday wepacked and went to the airport. cheers, bodi.
RED BULL 'UNDER MY WINGS' Camp Dec 18th - 20th It all started Thursday night. dad and I arrived at Sydney airport to join with many others. we met two men Olly and Eddi. they were both from red bull. they hired cars and drove us to a motel called the Overlander. we then met the other riders and Luke Madill. they then all explained what was going on that night and Friday morning. we woke up Friday morning at 7:00 to board the Eddi van at 8:00. we met up with the girls at Luke's house Luke's house was amazing. we could see the 4 story high start hill from the road. we were given breakfast there. sadly it was raining Friday so we couldn't ride the track though we were able to complete all the inside activities. they spoke to us about sport psychology and marketing. we then did a few activities. that night we had a BBQ and went back to the motel to sleep. Saturday was again another 8:00 morning. we were driven to Luke's again in the Eddi van and had breakfast at Luke's. Saturday was sunny and hot, though we weren't going to ride the track just yet in case it was still really wet. instead we went out and did gates and sprints on the asphalt. we had lunch then hit the track. the track is amazing! the start gate was huge though Luke had built a slightly smaller one for the weekend. we were given four laps and then told to do a time trial. I just about went over the gate but I managed to come through for a second with Jake Lowe taking the lead. practice was awesome and we learnt alot in such short time.
Sunday was the big day! people from all over Australia came to race. many red bull staff were there helping out and of course the usual event and staging officials. we were split into ages based on champbikx. I was riding in the 16 yr boys. the fifteens had few riders and same with us so we were combined but we were given separate finals. I won 2 moto's and Jake Lowe got me in the other. I made semi finals with jack buchorn, Steven Gedye and Aiden vahtrick.. I won the race putting me in an age final with Jake Lowe, Morgan peen and Daniel Willis. I got an amazing gate and lead the whole way! I was awarded with the best looking trophy ever! after the age final Luke put me, jack buchorn and Aaron Nottle together for an ultimate under my wing champion. (jack and Aaron won their age races) again I got a really good gate and snapped out in front. I was winning all the way! I didn't win anything for that race accept to be the best around Luke's track that weekend.
the weekend was the best ever and if it hadn't have happened I wouldn't have learnt all that I did on the camp. if any opportunities rise again I would definitely say yes. and for anyone out there who is asked to do anything as great as that you will regret saying no. red bull really had it well organize and Luke Madill would have to be the best rider out there to hold an event like that. he gives advice whenever you need it and trust me the camp will not disappoint you!
thanks for reading, I hope you understood. bodi. #47 Victorian State Titles the weekend was the best weekend ever. i also believe it was the best state titles i've ever been to! the weekend began on friday with practice from 1:00 in the afternoon till about 5:00 because the opening ceremony was presented from then till 5:30. practice then re-opened but i was too tired to ride for another hour and a half! sadly it rained friday and for the rest of the weekend! saturday morning was ok though. the track was in an awesome condition and there was no rain to be seen. saturday morning was the champbikx/probikx event. i was racing in the 16 boys class. i got the quickest time for time trials in my age class, 36.3 though a younger person in the 15 boys class was 2 tenths of a second quicker! so in my moto's i grit my teeth and went as hard as possible to get that time back. i won all my moto's and 2 out of 3 i got 35.8 seconds. so i accomplished my goal for the moto's. i was then in the final. i got the best gate ever and shot into the lead. i lead all the way, as i got over the tabletop on the last straight a big gust of wind hit me and i almost went backwards! but i peddled to the line and won. it was an awesome race! we checked the times for the final and i got 35.6 in the final even with the big gust of wind. the rest of saturday was cruiser and i didnt ride cruiser. when we woke up sunday it was wet as! it was mildly raining and the track was a little wet. though the guys at the track who have taken so many days off to keep it in good condition were working on the track sunday morning and somehow the amounts of rain we had didnt affect it at all! racing got underway straight away. i was racing A men and 15 boys age class. so i did 6 moto's because of the two classes. i won all except the first moto in age because i was still sleeping. i then had quarters for A men and i won that. after the quarters i had semi finals for both classes. i raced my age semi first and won. i was then straight back up for my A men semi and i won that.. so now all that was left was finals for 15 boys and A men. in 15 boys it began raining and didnt stop till after all finals. the track was ok for age though. i got a ripper start and lead the whole way. in the A men final we weren't so lucky with the weather. it was raining and the track was puddled and boggy. i got the best gate of my life and pushed as hard as i could into the first turn. it was a little slippery in all turns but i just went a little wider on the exits and it was grippy enough to take off. i lead all the way down into the last corner and started getting tired legs. i pushed as hard as possible and before i knew it i had crossed the line. so the weekend was an awesome turn out and i came out with some awesome results. i am now first in victoria for 15 boys and 1st in victoria for A Men!
KNOX THUNDERDOME NOV 7 & 8 knox was awesome! the track was looking great and felt great to ride as well. the only disadvantage was the soft corners but not to complain it slow you down after the huge tailwind down the first straight! we began practice at about 4:30 saturday afternoon. the pro practise was about 5:30. it was a bit hot on saturday but it cooled as the night went on. i was racing A pro. we had about 16 riders? i had chris fleming every race? though it was good to see how fast i was riding compared to another fast rider in the group. i had lanes 2, 8 and 7. but i was ok from the outside because the doudle sends you a little smoother. i came second in my first race, i was coming first then me and chris went for a tie over the line but i lunged forward and we both thought i had a wheel on him though the line officials said he had one. i was out to win the next one though. i ended up winning the next two. it was then straight to final. i picked lane four. i slammed into the gate but somehow i was in the lead going over the first jump? i lead all the way around the track and won the race. it was such a fast lap! the next day began at eight for practice. i got more laps in practice sunday then saturday? and we even had a shorter practice? it was really hot on sunday! we had about 20 on sunday and that meant that we had six man semi finals. i won all my moto's and was first pick for semi's. i got out really quick and won the race. the final was packed! i picked lane three. i got the best gate in the world. shot out by half a bike over the first jump. i got the doubles soooo good! i came out of the second turn really quick and felt my legs burning up as i peddled. i got into the last straight and pumped as quick as i could, before i new it i was over the line. after the race richo called over the P.A system that i had recorded the quickest time of the weekend. that meant i was crowned king of the thunderdome! i was given 100 dollars for it too! it was cool as. so after everything i won both days and was crowned king of thunderdome. so the weekend turned out mad!
AUST V's NZ OCT 24TH on thursday i left to fly to new zealand. i was in the xbr australian senior test team. i was captain following jake lowe from sydney, kyle hughs and steven gedye. we had our own practice on friday then racing saturday. we were billeted to families in the area. i was with a family that had me when i was 11 in the mighty elevens in 2005. the track in cambride was great. it had six straights and a pro section. i was racing the 15 boy age aswell. on saturday we had four moto's for age class and three for the senior test team race. i was taking it easy in the age and saving energy for the test race but i was still pushing enough to get through. on sunday there was two moto's and finals for age class, and just two moto's for test team.i got through to the final in age and in the first test race sunday, we were ten points ahead of the kiwi's and in that race i crossed the line in first and heard "aussie 1, 2, 3, 4" and felt like i was on the moon! haha because a top four finish is 29 pts so we had put ourselves in a position where we could not lose. it was awesome. to my amazement, in the age final i had first pick? i didnt know how but it was good enough for me.i picked lane 2 and then jake lowe went one. i knew all i had to do was get in front into the first turn and i should have it sewn up. i got an awesome gate, went straight for the first turn and came out in front. i lead the whole way and won it. unlucky i actually cut jake off and he came through about 4th i think? at the end of the finals our fifth test team race was on. we had lanes 2, 4, 6, 8. jake lowe went one, me four, kyle six, and steve in eight. jake had me into the turn and i follwed behind him and i think we got 1, 2, 3, 5? im not to sure? we had a barbeque at the barry's and we played sting pong :s haha the weekend was awesome and we came out with some good results.
Lilydale Spring Cup Oct 18th sunday was great and lilydale held well with the rain during the week. i raced in the 14+. it was the lilydale spring cup and the races were scored for the metro plate series. racing 14+ is a challenge but it is good fun. it is like racing in double A. I raced matt dunsworth, kyle Horton, brock Tuckerman, tom sinmaa, dave habicht, chris flemming and jake sverns in the final. in finish order, though i was in the fourth behind brock. we had to race a relay for the club cup. i was in eastfield that got second to knox. we had practice last, we raced first, then we had a relay at the end of the moto, we were straight back up to race, then another relay at the end of that moto, then back up to race and then a fourth moto, no relay inbetween, then semi's and then the final. i had second pick for the final, i picked lane five with tuckerman in four and d'worth in 6 and others bunched outwards. i got a great gate and was clear from carnage, then i was about 5th out of turn one. i caught to fourth but matt was in the lead with tuckerman in 2 and kyle in 3. as we came into the last turn, tuckerman went for a move under matt but unclipped. i planned to go under kyle but brock threw that plan out the door, so i railed the berm and tryed to catch but kyle got past brock for two and i couldnt get brock by the finish. but it was the best race i have ever raced in 14+. im happy :)
Eastfield Experience Sept 20th Sunday i raced at eastfield for the eastfield experience. i raced in the A men. we had 21 riders and the moto's were spread awesomely! there was at least 3 challenges in each gate. it was awesome fun! we were given practice last and were the first in moto order. i won my first moto. then the other 2 aswell. Amen, AAmen and pro ladies had 3 final finals. so instead of doing 4 moto's semi's and a final we had 3 moto's, semi's at the beginning of the 4th moto and then 3 final finals spread throughout the finals. i won my semi putting me in the final/s. the only person i hadnt beaten fair and square was jordan morgan. in the first final i had lane 5. i got out clean and fast and in front. i lead the whole race and won it. in the second final i had lane 3 and again got a good gate but i was a little slow up the straight. jordan got in front and won that final. in the last final i had lane 1. it wasnt the best lane on the day but i got out so fast and started to really get the cranks spinning. i got into first and got the track as smooth as i could! i kept pushing down that last straight and the finish line came outta know where. i had won the race and overall! it was mad! i got to stand on the podium for once and got given some money towards AAmen! bodsta...
Mt Gambier - SA Vs VIC Had a great weekend. Saturday - country champs, won A Men. Sunday had a tangle up with Fenwick in practice needed some time out - but got back on and rode for the day. Had a bugger of a semi and slipped the first 3 cranks in the wet which put me behind the pack and couldn't get through. Finished 5th in semi.

I've been racing the local seen. Having a fun time. We've raced at Frankston, Border, Knox, Wyndham and next week it's warragul. We love that track. WORLDS CHINA How awesome to be racing in China. The hotel was huge and had good views of the city. The traffic was crazy! Cars go everywhere without any direction. MAD. The track was great!! Unfortunately my bags got lost in transit and I didn't have clothes or a bike for the first 3 days. It arrived the morning of my race. Had and hour and half of practice that morning and went straight into moto's. Did well through the motos and got into the semi. The race was feeling good until the rider in front of me slid out and I got caught up in it. After taking off and passing some in the last straight I was unable to get back to the top 4. So out of the final. The final race was awesome to watch (wishing I was out there) but congrates to Ryan for coming 2nd. |

AUSTRALIAN TITLES 2008 My God I Won! 14 Boys what a track - what a weekend! We were all lovin the track with the supercross start hill and the awesome 2nd and 3rd straight jumps. The final was unreal. We all came down the first straight together. I managed to just get in front at the first turn leaving the rest to bunch up giving me a handy bike length lead. From then i just pedaled my ass off and prayed they wouldn't run me down. Ryan was fast approaching in the last straight....if there was another 2 foot to go he would have nailed me. My First 1st after 7 years in the top 8 final....Yahoo! I would like to thank Grant from ECI for your support and for being on the Intense Australian Team.
CHAMPBIKX Champbikx was a fantastic series. It was great watching the pro's at work. WA, Nerang, Park Orchards, Penrith and then Adelaide. We had an awards night after the Aussie Titles weekend and I came 2nd overall in the champbikx series. Thanks to all the 14 boys - it was great to race you more often than just at the Aussies once a year. Look forward to the 09 series.
2008 started with the Nerang Champbikx. It was wet and sloppy, but they did a good job to try and fix it. FRIDAY NIGHT It kicked off with the motos i won all three, then came the semi final i got a good start, lead the whole way and won. Then THE FINAL, i got a bad start but was in 4th, as we came down the third straight zain got a bit loose and almost crashed, by now i was in third with maddie in first and morgan peen in second spot. As we came down the last straight i tried to give morgan a run but my legs were dead!!! SATURDAY The second day was a little dryer but still shocking! i didnt do aswell in my motos, but i still qualified for the semi final. in the semi, again i got a good start but Ryan van vugt beat me to the first turn, he was leading to the third corner but i just got under him and came out first!i won the race. THE FINAL! I got a great start came out second again behind Ryan, again he was leading to the third corner, but again i got underneath him and came out first. I was leading up to the last straight when maddie had caught up i was over the first roller on the last straight when he came up beside me, i moved across but it wasnt enough, he just got it by an inch!!! |
